Welcome to the install of my hi-lo conversion kit, which I did with no outside help from any local garage, so I saved a load of cash on labour! As you can see the state of the car was very poor, and so I set out to clean the arches and stop any rust from forming. To speed up the job I attached a wire brush on to a drill which cleaned up the subframe and any rear suspension parts I could reach. Doing this job really allowed me to understand the car more, I found a large build up of mud around the radius arms which if I had taken it too a garage, I don't think they would have checked this or gone to the extent of cleaning I went to, even though it isn't visible from the outside. I know of many minis with this mod and have done it before, but when you do it yourself, it gives you a far better understanding and knowledge of your car that taking to a garage for someone else to do is pointless in my opinion.
Again using T-cut to clean up behind the petrol tank, even the bits on the car you cannot see are now spotless.
The picture above turned out to be so low that when the car was pulled out of the garage, it settled and the wheel was rubbing to the point where the wheels got stuck inside the arch. Then came trial after trial to get the perfect height.
T-cut is probably my favourite product to use it really cleaned up the inner arches nicely.
Any suggestions for the next modification please let me know.
